A solid soup and sandwich menu with a daily special and rotating soups. Casual, cute, whimsical. $$ (the special runs about $15 but comes with 2 sides and healthy portion). Great soups- the African Peanut is amazing. The food I tried was not very appetizing. The best part was the creativity with their sandwiches. They will use a homemade(?)pretzel bun by request. It's nice because the dice they use is extremely runny, which is bad, but the pretzel bun didn't get soggy, which was good. Unfortunately, it's not working for the most part. The clam chowder was very sparse with clams or clan taste. It was sparse of vegetables and cream...the one thing it was heavy on was the taste of heat. I believe a big dose of pureed hot peppers. Not appetizing. They pickle purple cabbage and I think that is the dish that could use the heat. I think a sweet and sour combo would have worked. Sour only, not. I tried two desserts, carrot cake and some other cake (ginger?). The icing on the carrot cake was gross and salty. Not the smooth cream cheesy, gooey goodness that you hope to sink your teeth into. The other cake, one bite was all I could stomach. I gave it over to my dining mate, he couldn't eat it either. It taste terrible. Not even my chickens were impressed. They didn't want it either. The actual cake part of the carrot cake was moist and delicious. That icing was a let down. I think it was a stiff egg white concoction with too much salt and cream of tartar. The waitress was quick to take our orders. She was very nice and cute. We had to ask for utensils and napkins and our drinks to be filled. The food came out in good time. It's a rustic atmosphere to be sure. Which is dark and gloomy looking inside but they have an enclosed Sun porch, which was nice. Great small homie restaurant with really fresh soup's and salads and everyday fresh product for their sandwiches and wraps. There soup is made fresh everyday and the service is always up to par. If your ever in old town kenai this is a must try experience. Also every Friday night is open Mic night. Excellent service, coffee, and home made food. Cozy and welcoming atmosphere The people at Veronica's are wonderful and the food is amazing! What a special place! We highly recommend it! The bread pudding IS life changing!
